Pre-Trip Planning / Packing List
THINGS TO EXPECT AHEAD OF TIME (IMPORTANT, PLEASE READ)
- This retreat will immerse you in the inspiring, exciting, lush beauty of the rainforest. However we do not plan to visit beaches. If you want to experience Costa Rica’s beaches, I suggest you add a day or two at the beginning and/or end of the trip. Liberia airport-where the experience begins and ends- is within an hour of many beach towns. Taxis/rental cars can be easily obtained at the airport.
- Among the many lively creatures you may encounter in the rainforest are mosquitos and other bugs that may find you delicious. I recommend you bring your favorite bug spray.
- It often rains in the rainforest, it can also get very hot and sunny midday. The retreat centers will provide umbrellas for you to use and plenty of shaded and covered areas, but its best to expect this kind of weather and bring your favorite sunscreen, hat and water shoes.
- I suggest bringing your own personal travel mat. I recommend this one that is affordable, eco-friendly and can easily fit in a suitcase.
- I have designed this trip with the most efficient travel routes and we will be in a spacious van with A/c and seatbelts. However, please expect to spend several hours on the roads in Costa Rica which can be twisty and bumpy.
- The airport pick-up/drop off is only included if you arrive/depart within the specified window. Otherwise you are responsible for your own taxi (taxis are very easy to get at the airport and can be coordinated at our retreat center if needed, but this will be at your own expense). We cannot be responsible for delayed flights.
- I have picked my favorite places/experiences to share with you, however there is no pressure to do everything on offer. Please make this experience your own and feel free to do as little or as much as you like. You will have different options for experiences each day, but if you want to spend an entire retreat lying in a hammock sipping Tamarind juice, you can!
- The water is safe to drink and the food is delicious. Meals are family style or buffet. Generally you will not be ordering from a menu. Please send all dietary restrictions ahead of time.
